Rode VideoMicro Compact On-Camera Microphone with Rycote Lyre Shock Mount.  We initially purchased this Mic as a relatively economical option to get better sound quality on our Sony Action Cam.  It has turned out to be a very simple to use, good quality cardioid external mic that produces good quality sound. We have more recently been using it with our AX53 as well and you can truly notice the sound quality difference when it is not connected. It has an included dead cat that really reduces wind noise, and I love the fact it has no batteries to worry about, or switches to forget to turn on.  Just plug it into the camera and you are ready to go!
