We know, we know, it seems a bit complicated but really it isn’t! We are RV Sometimers so logistics are a bit different for us.
We aren’t in our RV constantly because we like to be at our home base sometimes for various reasons. The thing is Sometimes we are very far away from our home base when we want to be there and it just wouldn’t make sense, financially and for time, for us to drive the Beaver back. So we do the next best thing and FLY!
OMG though, Flying! It is a necessity for us to do, but Wow what a hassle!
There was a time when flying was glamorous and passengers were treated with the utmost respect but unfortunately those days are long gone. We understand that times have changed and air security is a huge deal now and we wouldn’t want it to be less, but for us it is an extra pain in the a#@
The reason being that Kory has these really great metal hips, which we love by the way, but the airport security scanners do not. It is an absolute guarantee that he will get the entire violating, pat down, swabbing search every single time. The answer to your question is ‘NO’ it does not matter if you tell them in advance or have a special card or anything else., it still gets done.
Next, it is the crowds, the disorganization and what we consider airline fraud! What other business is allowed to sell the same product twice (a seat). But airlines can and then if both paying customers show up for the product they purchased the airline can just say ‘too bad we gave it to someone else’!
Seating in planes these days is very cramped. We know you are all growning right now because, we get it, we are small and have so much more room then most of you but it still feels claustrophobic compared to our Beaver.
Often air travel also means hotel rooms. Ok this can be fun, occasionally, but again we would rather our own beds, bathrooms and places for our stuff while we are on the move. Ahhhh! the Beaver wins again.
There is no question though that sometimes flying is the most convenient way for us to get from point A to point B and we have to do it but we wanted to show just how much more comfortable and fun travel in the Beaver is. If there is a choice Hands Down we are gonna be in the Beaver!
